After the eponimous EP released by Elastica Records in 2015, Godere Operaio is the new ELEM LP, containing 9 tracks and released by the Lyon based Mahana Bay Label. In 1977 Gandalf il Viola – representative of the “Indiani Metropolitani”, the libertarian and creative wing of the Italian Protest Movement of the second half of the 1970s – held a famous conference in which he used the expression “Godere Operaio” (Workers’ Pleasure), playing provocatively on the assonance with “Potere Operaio” (Workers’ Power), a historical group of the extraparliamentary left.
The expression became the title of a track by ELEM, in which extracts from the conference are used, and then of the whole album, featuring other strong political voices, such as those of Emma Goldman and Jello Biafra. In addition, this release (compared to the first) was enriched by the contribution of other musicians with their acoustic and electric instruments.
ELEM continues its audio / video research integrating new languages and new multimedia technologies, twisting electronics, improvisation and Memory fragments from historical avant-gardes.
