Khaled Ben Yahia : Date de sortie : 2010

Documentaire réalisé par Bernard Dautant (52′)

If you can’t meet Khaled Ben Yahia in French and Tunisian festivals this summer, you can rediscover him in a documentary of 52 mn released in 2010 and realised by Bernard Dautant : “Khaled Ben Yahia, A Prince Of The Oud”, in which the artist tells about his musical experience with a lot of excerpts, and of his life between Maghreb and the West.

Synopsis :

By the Mediterranean sea, a man chants a soufi song accompanied with his oud. His name is Khaled Ben Yahia and he remembers the small town of Metuya in the South of Tunisia where he comes from.

From the Croix-Rousse area in Lyon to the Medina of Tunis, there are only a few hours flight, and sometimes a whole lifetime. In this documentary, the Oud, a true musical companion of all his adventures, the melodies inherited from taqsim and maquams as well, punctuate the story of an expatriate seeking his half-breed way between the East and the West, from the paths of his childhood in Djerba to the conservatory of Tunis, and from the Medina to the Mediterranean musics centre of Sidi Bou Saïd.
