Yio

Early predisposed to music, Lionel started studying musical theory when he was seven. Then he naturally joined the Moulin à Vent choir of Vénissieux, he learnt the trumpet and completed his musical studies in Lyons Conservatoire where he joined the Chamber Music Orchestra and the Conservatoire Jazz Quintet, on the track of his first idols, Prince and Miles Davis.

During the early eighties, he shared his passions as a compère on R.M.L., an independent radio station. He dabbed in everything; he went on a tour with Christian Mattio’s band and he even performed as special guest star for Eddy Mitchell and Sylvie Vartan’s galas.

In the late eighties, Lionel went to Paris where he discovered Trance Goa and rave parties which deeply impressed him. He then met the forerunners of this stage, and among them, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, Robert Leiner, Lisa Neliaz, Raja Ram and Graham Wood from The Infinity Project…

He enjoyed Playing in private parties, for the X Files series fan club at the Divan du Monde and the Palace, and he also helped organising evenings and afters Inviders.

DJ Yio came back to Lyons in 1998, eager to share his musical culture. He organised “Full Moon Parties” in different places like Le Poulailler, Le Forum Bar, Le Zoo and Le Navire Night.

He was asked to realise sound tracks for events like dance shows and fashion parades; he even played a set live for Denis Durand Haute Couture at the Transbordeur de Lyon in 2003.

Since 2007, his need for freedom has taken him to private events in France and in Brazil with his friend Paulo Lopes. He has devoted himself to made-to-measure events for which he can fully use his musical palette. He initiated the first thematic evenings at the Ruche in Lyons, and his appearing in other places such as Le Domaine Bar, La Station B, or L’ aKGB, was not unnoticed. At the moment, he performs at the “XS Bar” where he regularly draws us into the huge variety of his favourite styles.
